Perception/Comprehensibility Cheat Sheet

Perception Depth

Perception is a PC's interpretation of the world around them. In game, this has several meanings detailed below:

1. How many groupings of monsters a character and any number of subordinates they control can affect. In other words, how many enemies they can "perceive" based on the rules/code of the campaign (up to 4 groupings per character or subordinates controlled by that character).

2. Size categories of monsters. If a monster is at least 5 size categories bigger or 5 categories smaller than the player, that player can't perceive the monster or be perceived by the monster. Treat it like familiar immunity.

There are very few things that can change this (player picks come to mind)

Comprehensibility Depth

This is the idea that a low-level character can't "comprehend" high level magic (up to 10 SL's per multiplier of the character while going above results in twilighting, head blown off, etc.) or "comprehend" high level/deep DL monsters (up to 10 DL's of monsters per multiplier of the character although monsters higher than DL X usually are strange by their own merits)

There are more things that affect this than perception depth (items, spells, abilities, player picks, etc.)
